September has been better to some teams than others.

Duke is 4-0 going into a huge home game against Miami this Friday night while Florida State has yet to win a game, in part because of the buzzsaw in Alabama it ran into to begin the season, with Mother Nature and Deondre Francois’ season-ending injury also being contributing factors.

USC has suffered some early scares but is still undefeated, although that could change this week when it hits the road to face an also-unbeaten Washington State squad. Washington coasted through another soft non-conference slate before pounding Colorado in its Pac-12 opener a week ago and is also 4-0. In the SEC, Alabama seems to still be in league of its own, although Georgia has impressed thus far with wins over Notre Dame and Mississippi State. Nobody else in the conference is unbeaten.

In a new series, BearsIllustrated will ask you the fans to answer one question each week. The question will be something that concerns or puzzles us on how the Bears should play their opponent. This week, the question is who should be the primary spy on quarterback Jesse Ertz?

Ertz is a true dual threat weapon for the Wildcats, leading the team in rushing last year with over 1,000 yards on the ground. He is also their leading rusher through three games in 2017. A capable thrower, Ertz is at his best when he tucks it and runs.

WACO, Texas — Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield had a bit more respect for Baylor after the game. He also had another victory.

Our Big 12 Week 4 power rankings:

1. Oklahoma (previous ranking: 1): There was no blowout in Waco, but Oklahoma’s ground game took over in the fourth quarter, and the Sooners held on to beat Baylor 49-41. On a day that featured several upsets, holding on for a win was just fine for the Sooners.

2. TCU (3): After losing seasons in 2004 and 2013, Gary Patterson’s teams went a combined 23-2 the following year. The Horned Frogs also had a losing season last year. Which means the rest of the Big 12 better watch out — especially after TCU’s 44-31 upset of Oklahoma State.
