WACO, Texas — Center Kyle Fuller, Baylor Football’s starting center for the last three seasons and a four-year letterwinner, was selected in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans with the 243rd pick (seventh round).

Fuller’s selection gives Baylor at least one draft pick in each of the last nine drafts. Meanwhile, the Bears have had eight offensive lineman drafted over those nine years. Since 2011, Baylor has had 23 players drafted, which is tied for most in the state of Texas over that span with Texas A&M.

Fuller was a vital part of Baylor’s winning ways over the past four seasons as the Bears were 39-13 overall and had a 25-11 mark in Big 12 action. Fuller was a reserve on BU’s 2013 Big 12 Championship team and started its 2014 conference-title winning squad. He played in four-straight bowl games, helping the Bears win the 2015 Russell Athletic Bowl and the 2016 Motel 6 Cactus Bowl.

(CBS) John Fox has hired three more assistants to his Bears coaching staff, finalizing a group that saw plenty of turnover after a 3-13 season.

The Bears have a new receivers coach, hiring University of Tennessee assistant Zach Azzanni, who will be the third individual in that position in as many years. They also hired Brandon Staley to coach their outside linebackers and re-hired Derius Swinton II to serve as assistant special teams coach.

(CBS) The end is near for Jay Cutler’s time in Chicago, with the Bears preparing to part ways with their starting quarterback of eight seasons.

That much is clear after Tuesday’s report from ESPN that stated that the Bears are actively seeking a trade partner for a Cutler deal. That comes after Bears general manager Ryan Pace spoke in early January about the big decision he faced at the quarterback position.

Two Big 12 teams that have seen their seasons head south in a hurry face off Friday, when Baylor meets Texas Tech in the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Shootout at AT&T Stadium – better known as the fancy home of the Dallas Cowboys – in Arlington, Texas.

It’s the season finale for the Red Raiders, who once entertained bowl hopes before enduring a three-game losing streak that includes a 66-10 trouncing at Iowa State on Saturday, while Baylor has lost four in a row after a 6-0 start.

Texas Tech’s 56-point loss at then 2-8 Iowa State easily was the low point of the Kliff Kingsbury era. “This community, the university, this program obviously means the world to me, and that performance was as embarrassed as I’ve been,” Kingsbury told reporters.

WACO, Texas — As McLane Stadium filled Saturday night and players from Baylor and Oklahoma State loosened up before kickoff, a jarring message played on the large scoreboard above the south end zone.

“It’s on us to talk when we think someone needs help,” a Baylor student said as part of a 90-second video that played multiple times during the warm-up period.

Produced by Baylor athletics this summer in conjunction with the school’s Title IX office, the video featured students who voiced their commitment to create an environment at the school in which a culture of care exists and sexual assault is not accepted.
