The LI Elite 80 Event will be led and coached by top DI coaches. These coaches will engage with your son during stations’ work and during three very competitive games. The event will be open to everyone regardless of what club or town you play. Only 80 players per grade will participate in this event to keep numbers extremely small and to create four teams per grade. That will allow your son to be directly coached by at least two of the coaches at all times. This will be very different kind of experience in that you will be directly interacting with these coaches.

The 2017 Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association season is under way. Western will look to defend its 2016 Baggataway Cup, and it started the season with a pair of opening-weekend wins.

Full results of the first weekend, with box scores can be found here.

Pat Gregoire’s three stars return to recap the action:

First Star

Brandon Slade, Brock University

Senior attackman Brandon Slade  kicked off the 2017 campaign with a bang, netting six goals and 10 assists for 16 points to help lead the Brock Badgers to a pair of wins in the opening weekend. The Orangeville, Ont., native found the back of the cage four times while adding five assists for nine points in the Badgers impressive 21-5 season-opening win over Laurier. On Sunday, the three-time All-Canadian followed up that nine-point performance with two goals and five assists for seven points en route to a 28-8 win over Laurentian. Slade has already found chemistry with freshmen Connor Brown as he assisted on five of his 10 goals. There’s no doubt the two have the potential to be one of, if not the best tandem in all of CUFLA lacrosse.

The game was tied 5-5 after one period and 9-9 after two. The Lakers, who had oustcored the Six Nations Chiefs 19-4 in the third periods of the MSL finals, finally won a third period against New Westminster. They outscored the Bellies 3-1 in the first 11 minutes of the third Monday and looked like they had things wrapped up when Curtis Dickson scored on the power play with just 67 seconds left on the clock.
