Irish head coach Brian Kelly’s 2016 Notre Dame football team returns to Notre Dame Stadium Saturday to play host to Miami following a week off. Here are five things to watch as the Irish play their fifth of six home games of the ’16 season:

1.Both these teams are well-rested.
Miami has lost three in a row, and the last of those three came on the road at Virginia Tech on a Thursday night (October 20).

Two-and-five! Notre Dame‘s record? Who saw this coming?

Ranked No. 10 in the Associated Press’ preseason poll, the freefalling Irish took a week off to contemplate a potential self-imposed bowl ban.

Unexpectedly irrelevant, their TV ratings dwindling, the Irish could be headed for their worst season since Charlie Weis lost a school-record nine games in 2007.

Other than Army, an occasional whipping boy, the remaining schedule doesn’t promise more victories. All five future opponents are .500 or better, so maybe even the Black Knights can spring an upset.

Visitors are no longer intimidated exiting the tunnel which used to be a dreaded walk into the sun. Stanford, which was coming off blowout losses to Washington and Washington State, extended ND’s home skid to three in a row.
