Hello, friends. The longest offseason for the Texas Longhorns is now officially over, as the ‘Horns will once again take the field at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the first time since last Thanksgiving as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish come to town.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC as the entire nation turns its eyes to Central Texas to watch head coach Charlie Strong start his pivotal third season. The exposure increase the stakes, as does the presence of no fewer than four five-star prospects, including key 2017 targets like offensive tackle Walker Little, defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, and linebacker Baron Browning.

High hit puts Notre Dame's Torii Hunter Jr. in concussion protocol

Notre Dame wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr. is in concussion protocol after leaving his team’s 50-47 double-overtime Sunday loss at Texas following a big hit in the end zone.

Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly said Monday it is too early to tell whether Hunter and safety Avery Sebastian — who is also in concussion protocol after a big hit Sunday — will be ready for Notre Dame’s home opener Saturday against Nevada.

Hunter tweeted Monday that he is doing better and would “bounce back.”

Legendary Notre Dame Football coach Lou Holtz praised the Vitae Foundation audience at their Jefferson City Pro-Life Events on Monday and Tuesday, purchase saying, “People went into burning buildings on 9/11 and saved a bunch of lives.  They are considered heroes.  What you’re doing is every bit as important as what they did because you’re trying to save lives as well.”

Holtz, the only coach in the history of college football to take six different teams to a bowl game, said, “We’re the good guys in this fight for life.  Do not be intimidated by politicians, the media, or Planned Parenthood, because this cause is too important.”

An avid Vitae supporter, Coach Holtz addressed nearly 900 fellow Vitae supporters at the Capitol Plaza Hotel ballroom in Jefferson City, Missouri on Monday night.  An additional 250 partners in the community gathered for a breakfast event at the hotel Tuesday morning.  He even spoke with area high school students and Special Olympians before the breakfast on Tuesday.  Read Jefferson City News-Tribune article.
