Ohio State’s 2017 recruiting class got even better Thursday when the Buckeyes received a commitment from No. 2-ranked outside linebacker Baron Browning of Kennedale, Texas.

Browning, rated as 247Sports’ No. 9 overall player in the Class of 2017, made his announcement via Twitter.

With the 6-3, 230-pound Browning’s commitment, Ohio State now boasts six five-star players in its 2017 class. Those players include the No. 3-rated tackle, Josh Meyers; No. 1 guard Wyatt Davis; No. 4 receiver Trevon Grimes; No. 4 cornerback Shaun Wade; and No. 3 weakside defensive end Chase Young. All players rank among 247Sports’ top 30 players.

Browning also had offers from Alabama, prostate Texas, Florida State, and many more big time programs. The linebacker is from Texas, as noted in his commitment tweet. Rather than stay home and commit to Texas, which now has Tom Herman as its head coach, Browning decided it was time to “spread his wings” and commit to Ohio State.

It’s not a bad choice for the 5-star linebacker, as Urban Meyer continuously brings in top tier talent to Ohio State and turns those athletes into NFL prospects. Oh, and he’ll be able to play in the best conference in college football. On one of the best teams in college football.
