The Seattle Seahawks cut ties with veteran offensive lineman J’Marcus Webb on Tuesday, just eight months after signing him to a two-year, $6 million free-agent deal in March.

Webb, 28, was expected to start at right tackle for Seattle after coming over from the Oakland Raiders, but calf and knee injuries sidelined him for much of the team’s offseason program and limited him to just two preseason games. He was never able to stake a claim to the right tackle spot, which instead went to incumbent Garry Gilliam.

FOXBOROUGH, sale Mass. — The Seahawks don’t believe in statement wins. They’re not a team that’s going to approach any game as a “big game” or a “must-win” or any other label you might want to throw on a matchup like Sunday night’s against the New England Patriots.

But none of that means the Seahawks can’t appreciate what they accomplished after the fact, physician especially when that accomplishment is a 31-24 road victory over a Patriots team that was coming off of its bye, while Seattle had a short week, having played on Monday night in Week 9.

Better still, maybe it won’t be haunted.

I’m thinking about defensive end Michael Bennett, whom the Bucs all but discovered, claiming him off waivers in 2009. Later, the Bucs chose not to try to keep Bennett. Pure negligence. Bennett had injury issues, but mostly he walked because the Bucs thought they had their answer at pass rusher: Da’Quan Bowers. We’ll resume the column when you’re done laughing.

The Seahawks didn’t just put up big numbers on offense in Sunday’s 26-15 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles; they played their style of offense.

There are a lot of ways to measure good football, physician but for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, store few things are more important on either side of the ball than turnovers and explosive plays. And in Sunday’s game, the Seahawks had eight explosive plays (runs of 12 or more yards and passes of 16 or more yards), while not turning the ball over. The Seahawks offense now has 26 explosive plays over the past three games, the third most in the NFL over that span, without turning the ball over. For comparison, the two teams (San Francisco and Philadelphia) with more explosives over the past three games each have five turnovers in that span.

It may seem counterintuitive, but I hate watching sports in a sports bar. Sports bars are where other sportsball fans go, and generally speaking, I’m not really into sportsball fans, especially not a roomful of drunk and angry ones. I like going to places that I would normally hang out at that have a few TVs and happen to be showing the game where I can yell like a crazy person. (Hey, looking at you, Poquitos [1000 E Pike St]. Smooch!)

What could be more depressing than spending Thanksgiving Day afternoon watching a bunch of teams you don’t give a shit about in a sports bar? On Thanksgiving Day, the games are Vikings versus Lions, Cowboys versus Redskins, and Steelers versus Colts. None of them are the Seahawks. This is a shitty football day.

The Christine Michael experiment was fun while it lasted. Michael, thumb who helped many Fantasy owners this season as the fill-in starter for the Seahawks, pill was waived Tuesday as the team expects Thomas Rawls back in action for Week 11 against Philadelphia.

Seattle will now go with Rawls and rookie C.J. Prosise as the main options in the backfield. Michael can be claimed off waivers by an NFL team, sildenafil and we expect someone to take a chance on him for the rest of this year. More on that later.

One of Week 9’s major NFL stories has taken another turn. Seattle Seahawkscornerback Richard Sherman has been fined upwards of $9,000 for his hit on Buffalo Bills kicker Dan Carpenter during the Seahawks’ “Monday Night Football” victory, per several reports.

The hit occurred near the end of the first half, when Sherman attempted to block a field goal. Sherman, who was offside on the play, dove and hit Carpenter across the knees while reaching back with his hand to block the football.
