Tennessee football started 5-0 before losing its last two going into this week’s bye. Here are the five biggest Volunteers disappointments so far in 2016.

After a 5-0 start, Tennessee football fans everywhere had plenty of positive things to point to about their beloved Vols. They were clearly mentally tough, they had developed serious depth in Butch Jones’s fourth year, and the realm of possibilities was wide open.

KNOXVILLE, order Tenn. (WVLT)- The Tennessee Volunteers took a field trip of sorts during the off week as a way to get some much-needed recuperation from the grind of football practice.

When the team reported for practice on Wednesday, Head Coach Butch Jones told them to hand up the football gear because they were going to the movies.

“There was one day if felt they were still exhausted so we went to the movies, there is so much that goes into the effect of a long football season and you have to be able to read your football team,” Jones said.

Most coaches will tell you that injuries are simply a part of football. Yet even by the tough-guy standard that the sport inflicts on its participants, treat the Tennessee Volunteers have had an unspeakably unlucky rash of injuries this season.

Virtually every meaningful player on the Vols has missed at least some time this season, order with the injuries ranging from season-ending (like in the case of All-SEC linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin) to those that cost players like Jalen Hurd a game or two. And the news got even worse on Tuesday when it was revealed that Alvin Kamara — who just two weeks ago rushed for 127 yards and had another 161 receiving against Texas AM — will miss at least 2-4 weeks after suffering multiple knee injuries against Alabama.
