PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League has announced the names of 80 student-athletes – including 10 from Harvard – who have been selected to the 2017 Winter Academic All-Ivy League team.

The goal of Academic All-Ivy is to properly honor top student-athletes in the three sports seasons (fall, winter and spring). For each sports season, each Ivy institution nominates 10 student-athletes – five men and five women – with grade point averages of 3.00 or higher. These student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve on an officially sponsored varsity sport.

If the 2016 season is any indication, the most storied conference in lacrosse might also be the most entertaining conference in lacrosse. The Ivy League is home to two current Maverik Media Poll teams in Yale (8) and Brown (10). Yale won the Ivy League championship last season after defeating Harvard, 14-9, but fell 13-10 to Navy in its resulting NCAA appearance. This year, the Bulldogs are looking to repeat their conference success and parlay that into a better showing against the rest of the NCAA field.
