Round 2 to Mizzou.

All it took was one bad inning for Arkansas baseball and Missouri took advantage in evening the series at a game apiece with a 7-2 win Saturday in Columbia, Mo.

The Tigers scored six of their seven runs in the sixth, hitting three home runs in the inning to take control. Robbie Glendinning and Nelson Mompierre hit two-run shots and Brian Sharp added a solo shot. The sixth run in the innng came via a Kameron Misner RBI single.

The loss was the first for Arkansas (20-5, 4-1) in SEC play. The Razorbacks still sit tied atop the SEC West standings after Auburn also lost Saturday.

The first two home runs — Glendinning’s and Sharp’s — ultimately chased Arkansas starter Trevor Stephan. It was Stephan’s worst start of the season, as he went 5 1/3 innings and gave up six hits, four runs and a walk. But the hits were mostly mistakes more than Missouri (21-2, 4-1) smashing him around. Stephan struck out 10.

Stephan didn’t get much help on the other side, though. Missouri starter Michael Plassmeyer and reliever TJ Sikkema kept Arkansas hitters at bay. The two combined to give up eight hits but only walked two hitters.

Only one Missouri batter failed to collect a hit and only two didn’t score a run. The top producers for Arkansas were Luke Bonfield (3 for 3 with a walk and a run) and Chad Spanberger, who hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1 in the third. But other than a Carson Shaddy double and RBI, most of the Diamond Hogs hits were harmless.

The two play again Sunday to determine the series winner. Arkansas won the opener on Friday.
