KUALA LUMPUR: Youngster Chen Tang Jie is relishing the chance to make headway with seasoned campaigner Goh Liu Ying.

Tang Jie reported for duty and went through a training session in the afternoon with Liu Ying at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (BAM) in Bukit Kiara yesterday.

National mixed doubles head coach Chin Eei Hui has paired up Tang Jie, a Petaling Badminton Club (PBC) product, with Liu Ying to add depth in the squad.

The duo will make their debut in two tournaments – the India International Challenge in Mumbai (Nov 29-Dec 3) and the Maldives International Challenge in Male (Dec 5-10).

Liu Ying-Peng Soon won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and reached the All-England final in March. They had to break up due to Liu Ying’s shoulder injury in April.

Real Madrid appeared to be in high spirits as they trained together for the final time before Sunday’s mouth-watering clash with title rivals Sevilla.

The Andalusians are the surprise contenders for this season’s La Liga crown and are only four points behind league leaders Madrid heading into this weekend’s match at La Bombonera.

Madrid have a game in hand on Jorge Sampaoli’s side, as well as rivals Barcelona, and Zinedine Zidane was all smiles as he cast his eye over training on Saturday.

The majority of Madrid’s first-team took part in the session, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who was recently named as The Best FIFA Men’s Player for 2016.

Sunday’s match will be the second meeting between Madrid and Sevilla in four days, following Thursday’s feisty 3-3 second-leg draw in the Copa del Rey.

Karim Benzema scored with the very last kick of the match as the Spanish giants secured a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos began his career with Sevilla but was roundly booed by the club’s supporters after scoring a Panenka penalty on his return to his home-town club in midweek.

Ramos was also criticised for his manner of celebration but the 30-year-old defender insists he still holds Sevilla in high regard.

‘Sevilla will always be home for me whether they jeer me or not,’ Ramos said.

‘But I’m the captain of Madrid and I’ll always try to do my best to help my team.’

‘When they bury me, it will be with a flag of Sevilla and a flag of Madrid, that’s not going to change,’ he added.

Zidane has backed his player over the incident and urged Sevilla supporters to give the central defender respect when the two clubs meet again on Sunday.
